What should I know before establishing a personal depository account with Delaware Depository?
If you elect to establish a personal depository account with Delaware Depository after taking an in-kind distribution from your STRATA account, please keep in mind:
- Establishing a personal depository account may take up to five business days
- Once established, the account may receive precious metals distributed from your STRATA account
- Precious metals distributed from your STRATA account into a personal storage account are reportable distributions, and IRS Form 1099-R will be issued by STRATA
- Personal depository accounts are maintained directly with Delaware Depository and are separate from your STRATA account custody arrangement
- If taken within the first 30 days, there will be admin, shipping, and handling fees.
- If taken after the 30 days of the personal account movement, you would incur storage fees (based on if you have a segregated or nonsegregated account) and an insurance fee based on your average spot price value.
- If you decide to take all your metals and close out the personal account with Delaware Depository, there is no termination fee.
Once Delaware Depository receives shipment instructions, they will contact you by phone to confirm the shipment details. After confirmation is completed, shipments are generally processed within 1–3 business days.
