# What are my options once my asset has paid out?
When your asset pays out, the proceeds will be deposited as cash into your STRATA account. From there, you may:
- Reinvest the funds into another eligible alternative investment
- Hold the funds as cash within your IRA (review STRATA's [Uninvested Cash Policy](https://www.stratatrust.com/resources/forms/important-information-regarding-your-uninvested-cash/#entry:3626@2))
- Open or transfer funds to a [brokerage account](https://www.stratatrust.com/resource-center/investment-hub/investment-onboarding/?tab-id=4#onboarding-steps-by-asset-type) to invest in publicly traded securities
You are not required to reinvest immediately. However, keeping funds invested may help you continue working toward your retirement goals.
