How do I fund a private equity investment?

Once your investment has been approved through our pre-custody review and your STRATA account is open and funded, you can direct STRATA to move funds to your new investment.

(1) Submit investment direction instructions

To initiate the investment, submit STRATA's Investment Direction – Private Investments form to authorize funds from your STRATA account to the investment issuer.

To complete this form, you will be prompted to upload subscription documents provided by the issuer. They may be referred to as a purchase agreement, investment agreement, shareholder agreement, limited partnership agreement, or operating agreement.

After you sign, STRATA will execute the documents in its capacity as IRA custodian.

Timeline

Processing times are approximate and depend on receiving complete documentation in good order and funds are available.

  • Transactions are typically processed within 2–3 business days after all required documents are received
  • Transfers or rollovers from another custodian may extend timelines due to third-party processing

(2) Confirm purchase and registration

After funds have been sent for the investment purchase, the final step in the process is for the investment sponsor, issuer, or investor to provide confirmation verifying the asset details and registration to the STRATA account, typically within 30 days:

STRATA Trust Company, Custodian
FBO (Accountholder Name), Account (#)
P.O. Box 23149, Waco, TX 76702
Tax ID: 26-2637994

STRATA’s Tax ID must be used in place of your Social Security Number to maintain the tax-advantaged status of your IRA investment.
