How Do I Close My Account With STRATA?

Learn about closing your STRATA IRA.

If you are in between investments, STRATA offers accountholders the ability to invest in traditional investments, like publicly traded stocks, bonds, or mutual funds through an IRA-owned brokerage account. Learn more here

To close your STRATA IRA you may either transfer your account to a successor custodian or request a distribution.

OPTION 1: Transfer Your Account

You may elect to request a full transfer of your account to another institution. To transfer your account, you will need to reach out to the receiving custodian. They will have transfer paperwork for you to complete on their end. Once completed, the successor custodian will send the request, along with their signed Letter of Acceptance, to STRATA on your behalf.  Please note that if you need to liquidate physical assets in your account, you will need to reach out to your investment sponsor or precious metals dealer to initiate that process.

OPTION 2: Complete Distribution

You may take a complete cash or in-kind distribution of your IRA account. To request a distribution, please complete and submit the appropriate distribution form, which can be found by clicking here. To ensure your account is closed, please be sure to select “Complete Distribution” in Section 3.

Please review STRATA's IRA Fee Schedule for associated termination fees for closing your account.
